Storm Damage Repair Updates

The West World War II Hangar, a beloved local landmark at Falcon Field Airport, is currently undergoing repairs following damage sustained during the September 12, 2023 Storm. However, the restoration process will experience delays due to the age of the structure and the various levels of bureaucracy involved. As the hangar is owned by the City of Mesa, the cost of repairs will be shared among the taxpayers. Despite the challenges, the Falcon Warbird Foundation remains dedicated to serving the community and making a positive impact, exemplified by the efforts during Veterans Day 2023 and this Holiday Season. We are working diligently to ensure that rent continues to be paid on time, even in the absence of a functional facility. Serving the community is of the utmost importance, and proof of the Foundation's unwavering commitment to its missions.

ACHIEVING NATIONAL RECONGITION

In 2023, during the application process for Save America's Treasures Grant brought to light the fact that the hangars of an actual World War II training base located at Falcon Field are currently not registered correctly on the National Historical Landmark Registry. This 2024 grant cycle the focus is on addressing this issue.
The Falcon Warbirds Foundation is deeply committed to take care of the historical legacy of the hangars that have stood the test of time and continue to stand tall. We work diligently to collaborate the unwritten stories with documentation, deeds, and other factual information to ensure that the rich history of these buildings is preserved for future generations.
